This week I ventured into a new form of dyeing for me - ice dyeing. The effects are so impressive I always thought it must be really tricky to do but after reading Ruth Lane's method on felting and fibre studio I decided to be brave and give it a go. I need not have worried, in some ways it is actually easier than my method of rainbow dyeing. I'm afraid I did not take any pictures "during" the process but here are the results.

Beautiful results! It is easy, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteDeceptively so :)
ReplyDeleteWe had about 8 inches of snow this week, so I dyed a bunch of fabric using snow instead of ice--I do it differently than the directions you linked to, but the results are great, just like yours!
ReplyDeleteI quite fancy trying snow dyeing (I expect it melts quicker so same results in less than half the time) but we haven't had a single snow flake yet this year, just lots and lots of rain... Do you plan to post images of your snow dyeing results?
ReplyDeleteI just posted some--check out my blog:
