I really liked it at this stage and was worried I wouldn't like it as much once felted but prefelt isn't particularly strong so felt it I did...
And I'm really pleased with how it turned out, placing the folds closer together is so much more aesthetically pleasing. It's busy drying at the moment waiting for me to mount it but in the meantime here are some photos from different angles.
I'm not quite sure how you did it, but it looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Norma, this piece was made by needlefelting pieces of prefelt together and then wet felting it.
DeleteThese are amazing! I've enjoyed looking at your work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Heather :)
DeleteIt's beautiful Teri! How big is it?
ReplyDeleteThank you Mysterymar. It's currently approx 14 x 16" but I plan to mount it on a 12 x 14" frame
DeleteTeri , it's great , really could be coral.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane :)
ReplyDeleteThis piece is terrific! Teri, I am sure it took oodles of hours, but the results are stupendous! Luvswool
ReplyDeleteThank you Luvswool, it did take a while to needle felt all the pieces together but the felting was pretty quick once it was assembled
DeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnd the hats are amazing...
Thanks Margaret :)
DeleteI'm behind following Nina-Marie's links but glad I caught up with what you are doing. Our small (self-taught, learn as you go felting group) will be experimenting with textures at our next gathering.
ReplyDeleteSo....if I may ask....at the wet felting stage...how did you keep the sections from felting together?
Hi Mary, you are correct, the layers of prefelt do try to felt together, there are several ways you can stop that from happening, you can put strips of thin plastic between the layers of felt, felt each strip of felt individually by rubbing it with soapy fingers or what I did for this piece, I did most of the felting by kneading it and stopped every 20-30 seconds to separate each strip to stop them felting together. Hope this helps?
DeleteI look forward to reading about your adventures in felt texture :)
This is fabulous Teri! I love it and it will be wonderful when it's framed.
